Oracle staff designs winning cover

Carlisle High School’s Oracle staff recently won first place, according to the American Scholastic Press Association (ASPA).

The front page design of last year’s yearbook, “Be The Change,” has been given the honor of first place by ASPA because of the meaning behind it.  The splattered paint on a white canvas represents the idea that coming into high school, a person is full of possibilities, but eventually evolves into something beautiful and together.

“We selected ‘Be the Change’ as our theme because it reflects the times we live in,” said Oracle adviser Melissa Gallagher.

Along with winning first place from the ASPA, the yearbook also received an Outstanding Award for the divider pages between every section.  Although the Oracle staff has won first place multiple times from the ASPA, they have only won an Outstanding Award one other time before.

“I believe it deserves first place because of the meaning behind it,” said junior Hannah Getz.

Back on the staff this year are seniors Brianne Doane, Rachel Adams, and juniors Haley Scott and Kija Chronister.

“It’s a fun class to take because Mrs. Gallagher is a great teacher and we have a choice with what we want to do,” said Scott.

The staff is eager to create more ideas for the cover again, and also continue to create this year’s book, “Our Words Stick.”
