Preparing for Prom

Prom is quickly approaching; on May 15, CHS will hold the last dance of the school year.

Time is ticking if you still need to go out and have dresses and tuxedos picked out or altered. With it being only a little over a month before the dance, guys and gals are starting to feel the pressure.

Seniors are probably most stressed, with this being their last high school dance. They want everything to be perfect and look great.

“I already went and rented my tuxedo because I wanted to make sure I had one. I hate being last to go out and buy something,” said senior Darrel Jones

The feelings of butterflies in the stomach have already caught up to some people.

Senior Dashia Escobar said, “I am so nervous. To think back and remember my first high school dance, now to imagine myself at senior prom is just scary. I am so excited to see what the junior class does with the theme. How they plan to decorate the room. It’s going to be great.”

Now knowing the theme is Arabian Nights, the horror of what it could have been is gone. We can easily rest and look forward to the beautiful night that soon is upon us.

“The theme is going to be like ‘Aladdin’ in a type of way. The junior class had many great ideas but this one really won most of us over,” said Junior Barbara Oyeson

The dance will be one you want to attend.

Junior Lydia Estes said, “My boyfriend Daniel Madio asked me to prom. I have my dress, which was worn by my cousins- in law who wore it to her sister’s wedding.”

Going to prom with or without a date doesn’t matter. As long as you go, have fun, and enjoy yourself. If you’re a senior, your last dance is all that really counts.

“I am not someone who enjoys school dances, but for others I think they just like going with someone who makes them feel special for the wonderful night of their life or even a group of really close friends. The students always come to school the next week talking about all the fun and memories they have created,” said senior Tim Mayberry
