CHS volleyball fights against State College

The girls celebrate after successfully scoring a point. The team scored the most points in the first match.

CHS girls volleyball faced their rivals State College on Sept. 13.  Despite their hard work and impressive plays, the girls could not pull through with a victory and the match ended in a 3-0 score.

Returning senior manager Kieran Smithmeyer described their performance as a “good effort.”

“Each and every girl gave the game their best shot,” Smithmeyer said.

The team also feels as though they did well and gave quality effort in their match.

“When playing State College we gave our absolute best,” senior Maddy Fluss said. “They are one of our biggest competitors.”

Despite the team losing the tough match, senior Emma Stone said, “Our biggest goal this season is to really focus on working together as a team.”

The result of the match is a repeat of last year’s season where the girls also lost to the Little Lions with a 3-0 score.  Leading the team this year are senior captains Fluss and Stone, along with junior Holly Stiltner.

When asked about the match, senior spectator Devon Poole explained that “State College is simply one of the most well-played sports teams in the district and all of their opponents will have to work very hard if they want to return home with a victory.”
