February Athlete of the Month: Jordan Purcell

Jordan Purcell, junior

Boys Varsity Basketball

Starting position, Leader of the team

Q1:  What is the best memory of the season so far?  Why?

A1:  I think the best memory of the season is when we rallied together in the fourth quarter to come back from 10 and beat Spring Grove.  It took heart and will to win and pull it off.  I myself just told everyone I’m not losing this game so we all stepped up.

Q2:  Do you think the team is doing how they expected they would?

A2:  I expected us to be this good as a team.  Record wise, no.  I thought we would only have trouble with two teams at the most this season, but I realize that anybody, no matter how good, can be beaten on any given day.  And so we dropped a few games we easily could’ve won, but if anybody knows how to step and bounce back it’s Carlisle.

Q3:  What is the biggest downfall of the season in your opinion?

A3:  The biggest downfall we had this season so far was the loss to State College because it was a wake up call.  It showed us how fast a team can go from the peak to the ground if they don’t come ready to play anyone, no matter the record or skill level of the opponent.  Collectively we weren’t ready and they pulled off an upset.  Ultimately, I think it was good to have a loss like that earlier in the season because we’ve seen the bottom and we know how it feels.  Coming back a better team now, we won’t get to that point again.

Q4:  Along with basketball, what are some other hobbies you participate in?

A4:  Well ball is life, but besides basketball it really depends on what I’m given.  If it’s nasty outside, I’m in the house and I usually just play video games and eat.  Or I’m in the gym.  Recently I’ve gotten a chance to hang out with friends more and that’s good especially when I’m with teammates because it builds chemistry.  I sing a lot, and like to Skype and text my friend in Utah.
