Morris will represent Carlisle at the Regional Band Festival on March 14 and 15 at Big Spring High School.

Several Carlisle students will be participating in a regional band festival on March 14 and 15 at Big Spring High School. Some of the talented people that CHS is proud of are Anne Griggs, William Morris, and Andrea Readshaw, all members of the high school band.

According to the CASD webpage, Griggs, Morris, and Readshaw all “successfully auditioned into the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association’s Region V Band Festival.”

Griggs is a junior at CHS and plays the clarinet. To help prepare her for the regional competition, Griggs is studying for hours every day so she can be prepared for any challenges she will face at the festival.

Griggs said, “The most exciting thing about qualifying for regional band is probably the realization that my hard work really paid off.”

Morris is a senior at CHS and he, too, plays the clarinet. Morris has been practicing everyday as much as he can, so that he knows the pieces that he’s going to play will sound like.

Morris said the most exciting thing about qualifying for the regional competition is “getting the opportunity to meet new people that share the same interested as me.”

Readshaw is a senior at CHS and plays the contrabass clarinet. To prepare for the regional competition, Readshaw is practicing all of her music.

Readshaw said, “[The cool thing about making regionals is] it’s really selective and I was one of the few to get in for my instrument.”
