To get ready for the big day, the Shakespeare Troupe practices their sword fighting skills. Performances start April 23.

Come out this year to Carlisle High School to see the Shakespeare Troupe perform Macbeth. The production will be held on April 23 (which is Shakespeare’s birthday) and will also be performed on the 24 and 25.

English teacher Sue Hench runs Shakespeare Troupe and teaches the affiliated class, which is called Page to Stage, where the students in her class learn, read, and write about Shakespeare. During the class, the students work on making costumes and building sets.

Senior Heidi Kelso said, “Shakespeare troupe is a great group of people, and I really have learned a lot.”

There is Macbeth rehearsal every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday afternoon. This is the time that the students will rehearse their lines and really learn the stage directions because Shakespeare does not put them in his plays and are interpreted in different ways. This is a great way for Hench to help the kids really understand his work.

Junior Caleb Curry said, “I love meeting new people and it is a different way of acting then instead of only participating in the musical.”

The leads in the play Macbeth are Jules Haper Macomb as Macbeth and Amanda Silva and Anna Michnowitz as Lady Macbeth.

Senior Selma Siekert said,” I love being able to go through my lines and learn the new meaning of Shakespeare’s plays because they can be interpreted in so many different ways.”
