CARING FOR THE ENVIRONMENT: Owners Burlison and Simko creates products that are great for the environment and your body!

Glitz Soap Co. opened its second location in downtown Carlisle on Thurs March 24. Also located in Mechanicsburg, the store is known for its handmade beauty, cosmetic, and personal care products that are vegan and eco-friendly, like bath bombs, face masks, hair products for any type of hair, and more.

Owners Makenna Burlison and Julie Webber Simko celebrated the two-year anniversary of opening their first store in Mechanicsburg this past February. On Sat April 9, they had their grand opening, where they gave out one free soap bar to customers and candy for the kids.

Burlison and Simko originally started their business from home, and since the business was growing and the need for more space grew, they started up a website that is still available for orders.

Glitz Soap Co. uses natural ingredients and environmentally friendly packaging like cardboard, paper, refillable bottles, and metal tins.

The business is also known for giving back to the community. They participate in raising funds and awareness to donate to multiple organizations, including Lancaster Farm Sanctuary, West Shore Wildlife Center, Ecologi, and the Downtown Mechanicsburg Partnership.

Glitz Soap Co. has partnered with Ecologi to help in reforestation, so for every order that is placed, a mangrove tree will be planted in Madagascar in support of the non-profit Eden Reforestation Projects as they reforest the island.

In related news, Carlisle’s original handmade soap store, Uncommon Scents, moved a few doors down from its original Hanover St. location to 5 N. Hanover St, a few blocks away from Glitz.
