Furry Friend’s Network Volunteer

While the average teenager is catching up on some zzz’s, Jadelyn Morningstar spends her Saturday mornings volunteering with the Furry Friend’s Network (FFN).

FFN takes in cats and dogs that are homeless, abandoned, or come from other shelters.

The daily life inside a FFN volunteer is more than just playing with animals. The day starts early at PetSmart or another animal shelter where the volunteers transfer the animals from their containment to a pet-friendly “play-zone” for the animals to relax and play with volunteers, while some other volunteers thoroughly clean the cages. Then the animals are returned to their cages.

The FFN has an adoption day once a month for people to come in and adopt an animal.

Morningstar and her mom have volunteered almost every weekend for the past three years. They also host a foster home where they keep cats until they are adopted.

Morningstar’s favorite part about volunteering is “getting to meet and work/play with the animals. I’ve always been an animal lover so I love getting to play with all the cats. It’s fun and relaxing. All the animals have quite the personalities.”

If you are interested in volunteering with the FFN go to Furryfriendsnetwork.com.  Under the volunteer tab, there’s both a foster and volunteer application. If you want to foster animals, you should fill out the foster application but if you just want to volunteer at Petsmart, you would fill out the volunteer application.
