The girls and boys lacrosse teams are both off to a strong start this season.

The boys are 6-0 so far this season, including beating rival Cumberland Valley 10-2 last Friday.

As Carlisle Sentinel reporter, David Rung pointed out in his article, “Lacrosse Notebook: Carlisle boys clicking on defense through early games,” “The way the Carlisle boys’ defense is playing is just too much to ignore.”

The Herd’s defense gives up an average of only 2.2 goals per game. After 6 games, an opponent has yet to score over 3 goals on the Herd.

For the offense, they score an average of 11.7 goals per a game. Leading scorers are freshman George Faller and senior Max Breshi.

“It has been so great to be accepted into a team of almost all juniors and seniors and for them to trust me already is an honor,” said Faller.

A few big games are coming up for the Herd.

“Hershey is always a big games for us. It’s a head to head battle with great competition until the final buzzer,” said senior Taylor McGrath.

They beat Hershey last season for the Mid-Penn Conference championship title. The Herd will play them at home on April 24. Another big game will be against Trinity on April 16.

For the girls, they are now 5-2 after tough losses to Cumberland Valley and Lower Dauphin.

The offense is led by junior Rene Morrow who has scored 45 goals after only 7 games.

“We have more of a will to compete and push each other on the field no matter what the score is. We definitely gained confidence and the determination to dig deeper than we have years in the past,” said Morrow.

The girls are confident in their chances for the season.

“I believe that we will make it to districts this year,” said junior Jamie Fhrom.

Teams like State College, Hershey, and Cumberland Valley all have a lot of talent that the Lady Herd is looking to beat. Their next home game is on April 15 against Northern York.
