To change lives and strengthen the community through the power of art.

Carlisle Arts Learning Center, CALC, is a non-profit corporation in Carlisle whose vision statement encapsulates their goal in the community surrounding them.

CALC offers “extensive art education programs to youth and young adults” along with displaying compelling pieces to give the community a voice through art. They have made an effort to make Carlisle a better place to live and work in the arts, by spreading diversity within their art work, since January 1992.

CALC offers multiple programs, most surrounding youth, to expose students to art expression. The most popular around this time of year being “School’s Out, Art’s In” for students’ school breaks, run by Maureen Madio, the Education Director of CALC.

“The art projects and crafts tend to be seasonal,” said CALC Collaborative Mo Geiger. “Helping the students connect with materials and subjects related to the calendar year, the holidays, and other positive celebrations.” They offer projects from gingerbread houses to ceramic mugs.

The four statement programs of Schools Out, Art’s In are Talking Turkey, which occurred during students Fall break November 21, 22 and 28; Jingle Jamboree that will take place during Winter break on the dates December 27, 28 and 29. Along with two programs taking place next year, Cozy Creations is scheduled for February 16 and 17, 2023 and Lucky Leprechauns, March 16 and 17, 2023.

“These are popular programs, as they provide a place for children and youth to spend time on days when school is not in session,” said Geiger. “‘School’s Out, Art’s In’ classes work well for students who desire a creative outlet during days when they’re not in school and their parents are at work”.

Each of these events cost $70 for non-members and $60 for members, these prices include the art materials and snacks for the attendees, and instruction ranges from 9am to 3pm.

They also offer after school, Saturday, one on one, teen projects, along with Summer programs in addition to Schools out, Art’s in.
