Art Career Exploration*

* Please note that this program’s list of participating businesses is not finalized

The Art Exploration Program is a new course at CHS open to Seniors. The program seeks to introduce students to career pathways in the world of the arts through a partnership with the Carlisle Chamber and several businesses in the community. Mrs. Gogoj answered the following questions about the program from Periscope.

‘Scope: What can students expect from this curriculum?

Gogoj: During the first nine weeks, students will meet from 12:00-2:30 each weekday, based on the schedule. Students will rotate through each of the participating businesses for a week. This rotation will include shadowing individuals, but may also include the opportunity to participate in a variety of daily tasks.

Expected workload?

At the conclusion, students may have the opportunity to continue with an internship for an additional nine weeks and may have to interview. As an intern, students can be expected to assist businesses with tasks such as event planning, social media/website engagement, marketing, and administrative skills, be flexible, and be willing to participate in hands-on learning.

What are the prerequisites?

There are limited spots. It’s recommended that students have taken art classes at the high school and if there are multiple applicants, students will be selected based on their art experiences and future career interests.

Who are the businesses participating in the program?

As of now, students would work with Revelation Photography, the Carlisle Arts Learning Center (CALC), Create-A-Palooza, Ndesign, Social Seed Media, Roost Architecture, and Cantate Carlisle.
