Batman V Superman see’s Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill square off as DC’s most iconic figures

We’ve debated about it with our friends, we’ve dreamt about it as little kids, we have read about in the comic books, and seen it play out on the Saturday morning cartoons. However for the first time in cinematic history, we finally get to see it come to life on the big movie screen.

Who would win, Batman, the world’s greatest detective or Superman, the last son of Krypton? We finally get to see it all play it out in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

Directed by Zack Snyder, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill (reprising his role as Superman from Man of Steel) and introduces Ben Affleck as The Batman, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, and Jesse Eisinberg as Lex Luthor.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice picks up two years after Man of Steel, where the public is now mixed on the introduction of Superman to humanity with some loving him and praising him as a guardian and with others seeing him as a unchecked alien who should have some supervision. Bruce Wayne (aka Batman), meanwhile, while harboring a deep hatred for Superman since his battle with Zod brought down his building and killed many of his employees, has been figuring out ways to kill the Man of Steel in the worst case that he eventually does turn on them.

The story of Batman v Superman, while a little slow at times, is compelling and gives what I think is a good reason for why these two heroes that are both trying to do the right thing are fighting each other. Ben Affleck’s performance as Batman is incredible as he manages to play a dark, creepy side of Batman and at the same time the charming façade of Bruce Wayne. The chemistry and dialogue between Affleck and Irons is great and often leads to many humorous moments in the serious-toned film.

Einsinberg’s portrayal of Luthor is something different and unique. While the Luthor in this film is younger and at sometimes unusually upbeat and happy, it is when he turns dark that the audience might be thrown off.

As this is director Zack Synder we are talking about, the visual effects of the film are extraordinary wonderful to see with Batman and Superman’s fight being the most incredible scene in the whole movie.

Batman v Superman is a incredible film that not only allows us to see DC’s three iconic characters appear on screen for the first time together but also manages to set up the foundation for the Justice League.
